Leisure of the 1950s
In the 1950s the television became very popular, almost every family had a television. in the 1950s the average kid 10-16 years old would watch 6 hours of television a day. this would most likely lead to Bradbury thinking that most people in the future to have a kinda addiction to television, in my view I think Bradbury was right. another thing Bradbury was right about in my view was that pills which were invented in 1959 would be used and abused like when Mildred overdosed on her pills. Another thing that made Bradbury think like he did was that sports cars were becoming very popular, so he most likely thought that fast cars were to be very common in the future. other things to note about 1950s leisure is that the first issue of playboy was published in 1953, this is also important because in the noval they want to give people simple pleasures like when Beatty goes on how they should give people pleasure or happiness instead of choices. One last thing to note is that in 1959 a comic called the family circus came out this might have lead to Bradbury making him go with the name for the program called the family.
